the problem.

Radios.nl set out to be the easiest place in the Netherlands to listen to online radio — hundreds of stations in one spot, free, with no app to download and no account to make. That meant building far more than a normal website. It needed a real audio player, a way for listeners to save and organize their favorite stations, and enough extras to keep people coming back every day.

what I built.

I designed and built the full platform from scratch. At its core is a custom audio player that streams 500+ Dutch and international stations live, with play controls, volume, recent-track playlists, and one-click sharing.

I built a favorites system where listeners can star stations and drag and drop them into their own order, with everything saved automatically in the browser. Around the player I added a live news ticker and news section, a TV guide, weather and traffic widgets, puzzle games, and a community feature where visitors can post a greeting that appears in the ticker after moderation.

The whole platform works on any device, supports four languages, and has a dark mode.

Radios.nl is a fast, app-like platform that turns casual visitors into regular listeners. The custom player makes streaming instant and simple, the favorites system gives people a reason to return, and the news, games, and community features keep the site sticky long after the music starts.

It’s a large, feature-rich build that still feels light and easy to use — proof that a single developer can ship a full product end to end.
