Online radio streaming platform with 500+ live stations.

The full story

the problem.

Radios.nl set out to be the simplest place in the Netherlands to listen to online radio: hundreds of stations, free, no app, no account. That is a harder brief than it sounds. Without a login there is nowhere to keep a listener’s preferences, and without an app there is no player to fall back on. Both had to be built from nothing.

what I built.

At the centre is a custom audio player streaming 500+ Dutch and international stations live, with volume, recent-track history and one-click sharing. Around it sits a favourites system where listeners star stations and drag them into their own order, stored in the browser so it survives without an account.

Beyond the player: a live news ticker and news section, a TV guide, weather and traffic, puzzle games, and a moderated community feature that puts a visitor’s greeting into the ticker. Four languages, dark mode, and the same behaviour on a phone as on a desktop.

the result.

Radios.nl behaves like an app without being one — nothing to install, nothing to sign up for, and a station list that remembers you regardless. The favourites system is what turns a one-off visit into a daily habit, and the news, guides and games give people a reason to leave the tab open long after the music starts.

Every project here is written the same way — the situation the business was in, what I built, and what changed once it shipped. How I run a project walks through the stages step by step.

This project started with a short conversation, not a spec document. Tell me how your business runs today — I’ll tell you what I’d automate first. If automation isn’t the right answer, I’ll say so.
